Part- Time Forklift Trainer (Evenings)
Position Purpose:
The Forklift Trainer at VersAbility Resources plays a critical role in promoting a safe and efficient work environment by delivering comprehensive training programs on forklift operation and safety protocols. This position ensures that all employees are properly trained in accordance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards, minimizing the risk of accidents and equipment misuse. Through hands-on instruction, classroom training, and continuous performance assessment, the Forklift Trainer fosters a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence, contributing to the overall productivity and well-being of the warehouse team.
Primary Duties:
- Provide both classroom and practical hands-on training to new and existing employees on the safe and effective operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks, pallet jacks).
- Develop and update training programs and materials in accordance with OSHA standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Conduct safety audits, accident investigations, and risk assessments to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate training records and certifications for all forklift operators, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Collaborate with the safety and warehouse management teams to ensure a safe working environment and reduce incidents involving equipment.
- Inspect forklifts and other equipment regularly to ensure operational safety and communicate maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
- Lead refresher courses and remedial training sessions for employees who require additional guidance on equipment usage.
- Stay current with changes to industry safety standards and update training materials and techniques as necessary.
- Monitor employee performance during training sessions and provide constructive feedback to improve their skills and safety awareness.

Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required
Experience:
- OSHA Forklift Trainer Certification or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience as a forklift trainer or operator with a strong understanding of various types of forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks, pallet jacks).
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
- Experience developing training programs and conducting safety audits.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to instruct employees at all skill levels.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to maintain training records and equipment inspections.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Environmental:
• Warehouse environment with exposure to moving equipment and materials.
• Standing, lifting, and operating forklifts during training sessions.
• Regular interaction with employees and management to ensure safety and compliance.
Certifications: Valid Forklift Certification
