Lead Maintenance Technician
Position Purpose: The Lead Maintenance Technician assists the Facilities Manager and works in cooperation with the Residential Program, Directors, Managers, and staff to coordinate the safety and maintenance and equipment needs of VersAbility Resources facilities in which services are provided.
Primary Duties:
- Performs painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular office and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying out new lines replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices.
- Interacts with contractors who perform maintenance and services for VersAbility Resources when necessary.
- Assists with fire safety and training for VersAbility’s facilities.
- Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, socket, fuses, minor appliances, cords etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Assist in evaluating short/long term needs in relation to major projects and property improvements.
- Attends and participates in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
- Assists the Facilities Manager as required and acts in his capacity during absences.
- Responds to after hour maintenance requests and initiates or performs Maintenance response as required.
- Member of the Emergency Preparedness Response Team
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills Knowledge & Abilities:
Education: High School diploma; Trade School Training/completion preferably carpentry trade.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience or recently completed trade school preferably carpentry
